September 2018: Woman of Power Award 2018
Ambassador Dr. Margaret Dureke received the MEA-Heart & Soul Magazine “Woman of Power Award 2018” at the Washington Convention Center on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. Women Leadership Magazine USA (WLMUSA) in cooperation with MEA Magazine and Heart & Soul hosted their Conference and Women of Leadership and Excellence Gala at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
February 2018: MacArthur Excellence Award
Lt. Col. Larry B. Rentz Sr. who has made history as the University of Maryland’s first ROTC African American program director in the school’s history presented his own historic MacArthur Excellence Award to Ambassador Dr. Margaret Dureke, after her well received Keynote speech for Black History Month at the Nyumburu Cultural Center, UMCP, during the previous week.
October 2017: Maryland Governor’s Citation Award
Ambassador Dr. Margaret Dureke and WETATi Academy were awarded the Maryland Governor’s Citation in honor of National Women’s Small Business Month, October 2017.
The Citation recognized: “The amazing work that you do and for the significant impact you are making to Maryland’s economy and the community you serve.”
First Lady Yumi Hogan, along with Secretary of State Jimmy Rhee, presented the Citation to Ambassador Dr. Margaret Dureke.
January 2015: Dr. Margaret Dureke Appointed Goodwill Ambassador to The Gambia
Dr. Margaret Dureke was honored and recognized internationally for the humanitarian work she and her team have been doing around the world including The Republic of The Gambia as she was officially appointed and confirmed by Her Excellency The First Lady of the Republic of The Gambia, Madam Zineh Yahya Jammeh as a Goodwill Ambassador to The Gambia and to work closely around the world with her Foundation. The well-being of the children of The Gambia is very near and dear to the heart of the First lady and in partnership with WETATi Academy, voice and tangible support is being given to the cause.
August 2013: Dr. Margaret Dureke Presented African Woman-Owned Busines Award
Dr. Margaret Dureke was presented the African Woman-Owned Business Award by the Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation/The Africa Trade office on August 2, 2013. The award recognized Dr. Dureke as founder and operator of a very successful woman-owned business, WETATi Academy, in Prince George’s County Maryland.
