WETATi Academy iDEA Lab OVERVIEW

Having successfully completed the WETATi Academy online course for school year, students have the opportunity to apply their skills and prepare for WETATi Academy annual Entrepreneurship Convention and The Dureke iDEA Pitch Competition. During the course, students learned what it really takes to start a business and make money, became financially literate and independent, turn their STEM ideas into business ideas (STEMpreneur); and experience practical workforce development activities, including mock career fairs with our strategic business partners. Students participating in the five week iDEA Lab series, will have the opportunity to fully develop and prepare their iDEA pitch competition application if they choose to compete, if not, it prepares the students to learn the general process and how to take any idea from conception to successful completion.

This five-week lab takes place virtually, every Tuesday for five-weeks; 5-6PM, starting May 17th and ending June 14th. The completion of this process, prepares the students for the WETATi Academy Annual Entrepreneurship Convention and The Dureke iDEA Pitch Competition. They will also receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course.

GOALS

1. Students will learn how to take and idea from conception to implementation
2. Students will put their WETATi Academy Academy learning into application and action
3. Students will be prepared competitors if they choose to enter The Dureke Idea Pitch Competition
