WETATi Academy Program: Practical Entrepreneurship EducationTM

Program Overview

WETATi Academy YoungPreneurs will engage in an academic year long after-school program geared towards creating economic and entrepreneurship opportunities. Our Practical Entrepreneurship Education program functions through our five pillars: Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, Workforce Readiness, Personal Development & Leadership, and STEMpreneur. We educate low-to moderate-income students through practical and experiential activities that prepare them for employment, future economic opportunities & entrepreneurship. The courses are an in-depth breakdown of the key things you’ll need in real life. Broken down into detailed, doable, digestible lessons and sessions.
This program covers everything from traditional classroom concepts to practical experiential learning. We pride ourselves on candidly teaching all the how to’s for the entrepreneur and the entrepreneurial employee mindsets. From reintroducing the basics like how to start a business, making multiple streams of income, becoming financially literate and independent, to introducing the new basics such as STEMPreneurs, strength tenacity, and workforce development. All our courses are taught by our strategic business partners such as University of Maryland, Truist Bank, Fulton Bank, and more. Upon completion, students will receive a certification of completion at their respective levels. Also, at the end of an accredited academic term students will receive a certification in their area of aptitude: entrepreneurship or entrepreneurial employee. At the end of each academic year students have the opportunity to participate in the Annual WETATi Academy Entrepreneurship Convention and the National Dureke Business iDEA Pitch Competition where our students compete for seed fund money based on the iDEA Lab portion of the curriculum. Students have the opportunity to attend the Annual WETATi Academy-Anne Reese Carswell Scholarship & Awards Gala where guests gather to celebrate individuals in the community for their achievements and celebrate our students who participated in the year round practical entrepreneurship education program and business competition.
